In a modern version of Islamic warfare, just 25 years ago nineteen suicidal hijackers used airplanes as weapons on us. A total of 2,977 persons were murdered in a surprise, unprovoked attack on September 11, 2001.
Americans were in shock. I remember a radio announcer early that day saying, "We're at war with somebody!"
As information came out, we were inspired by the passengers on flight #93. From phone calls that some of them made, we know that they decided to fight back against the hijackers. A group of them, strangers to each other, made a plan. Then one of them could be heard to say, "Let's roll!" The plane crashed in a rural area before it could strike its target in Washington, D.C.
