Cajun Navy

Houston, Texas, has had over fifty inches of rain since last Friday night. Houston police sent out a request for volunteer boat-owners to help people in trouble. An answer came back:  "#Houston Hang on. The CAJUN NAVY is already activated and on the way."

"The Cajun Navy refers to the network of volunteers with their own boats who have convened in Houston, Texas, to assist in the rescue efforts. The group of good Samaritans are also using technology -- including Facebook and the app Zello -- to find and rescue those desperately in need of help."

"Jordy Bloodsworth knows what it's like to lose everything in a storm. He can remember the panic he felt when Hurricane Katrina struck 12 years ago, wiping away his possessions.
"I've been a victim of this," said Bloodsworth, 25, who lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. "I feel like I've got do something."
